Eco therapy is an approach that draws on the natural environment to bring about benefits to our development, health and well being.

There is a long and deep tradition of working with nature to bring, relaxation, health and well being, personal growth and inspiration into our lives. There are a multitude of ancient and modern cultural traditions that celebrate the connection we have with the earth and nature.

In modern times the development of eco therapy which studies the changing human connection with nature and its impact on our society's and personal psychology has developed.  Along side this a growing number of therapists and outdoor education workers have seen the vast benefits of working in and with the natural world and eco therapy has become very well established especially in the USA, Canada and Australia.

In Europe the development is on going and here in the UK a number of organisations are working directly with eco therapy.

There are many layers that we can work on and at humannature we take a broad holistic and integrative view of how nature can work in harmony with our own healing. This means that we acknowledge the mind body soul connections in nature and bring to this an integration of approaches from modern therapy as well as more traditional methods.

Mind recently produced a report with Essex university on the benefits of eco therapy for mental health and well being and the executive summary can be downloaded below.
